The Kinkakuji temple in Kyoto is a Zen temple that boasts gleaming gold leaf on its top two floors. The initial construction of the Golden Pavilion temple dates back to 1397. Unfortunately, the building was destroyed by fire in 1950, but was rebuilt in 1955. Visitors particularly enjoy visiting during the spring cherry blossom season for its added beauty.
